Louis Vuitton’s Women’s Creative Director, Nicolas Ghesquière is not only a fashion designer but a fashion historian, with his quintessential designs that continue to shape the fashion industry and its direction. Featured at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, the permanent exhibit, “About Time: Fashion and Duration” showcases some of Ghesquière’s work, paired with looks of a different decade or even century. The exhibit shows how fashion continues to reinvent itself throughout the decades. Ghesquière looks at the past and is able to recontextualize it for today. “I think fashion brings collective and individual memories together. This is why when you’re a designer you have to acknowledge the world you are living in and to highlight styles and communities.” He is able to stay in the moment, drawing inspiration from the younger generation of how they style their clothes, from the different silhouettes, to gender-neutral dressing, the possibilities are endless.

The French designer has been with Louis Vuitton since 2013. Prior to joining the Louis Vuitton family, he was the creative director for Balenciaga between 1997 to 2012. He is known to be one of the most forward thinking designers as he designs a future.

POWER THOUGHT

Your past doesn't define who you are. Look towards the future and design the life you desire and imagine!

“By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should build with care. For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ." - 1 Corinthians 3:10-11
